The Taste of Lee scheduled for this Saturday June 18th. This super popular annual event gives participants a chance to sample locally grown and raised vegetables, fruit and seafood. Bring your appetites; some of the items available for sampling will include edible native plants, fresh juices, and very exotic fruits; like sapodilla, chesses, honey and much more. Many of these items will be available for sample as well as for purchase.
There will be an “ask the experts” booth on site for a Q&A session pertaining to Native fruits veggies and how to grow and take care of native plants and trees (which will also be on site for sale).
This event sponsored by the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension Office and the Caloosa Rare Fruit Exchange, will offer lectures throughout the day. The lectures offered will cover How to freeze and dry fruit, Edible native plants, Teas make from edible herbs and plants, and how to plant and maintain your own fruit trees. (10 a.m. – noon)
Don’t forget to dust off the plastic fruit; there will be a Carmen Miranda look-alike contest.

Admission will be Free for 7 and under $1.00 and an additional $3.00 for participation in “Speakers series.
